Research objectives:

  1. To develop a science-based integrated frameworkfor resilient Halal and sustainable ecosystems that support ethical governance, sustainable supply chains, innovation, and socio-economic development in the future economy.
  2. To examine the current structure and challenges of Halal ecosystems across governance, production, supply chain, assurance, and sustainability dimensions.
  3. To analyse the integration of sustainability principles (including ESG and SDGs) within existing Halal governance, assurance, and risk management practices.
  4. To identify critical success factors for building resilient Halal ecosystems, focusing on policy, technology, innovation, and human capital development.
  5. To explore the role of science, technology, and innovation in enhancing Halal traceability, assurance systems, and consumer trust.
  6. To propose an integrated, science-based framework that strengthens Halal and sustainability ecosystems for inclusive and future-oriented economic development.

Proposed Methodology

This paper adopts a qualitative and conceptual research design, involving:

  • Critical analysis of existing Halal ecosystem models,
  • Review of sustainability, ESG, and SDG frameworks, and
  • Synthesis of interdisciplinary literature to develop an integrated science-based

Expected Contribution

The paper is expected to:

  • Provide a structured and integrative understanding of Halal and sustainability ecosystems,
  • Offer a conceptual framework that can guide policymakers, industry players, and researchers, and
  • Support the development of resilient and ethical Halal economies, particularly in emerging and non-Muslim country contexts.

Practical and Policy Implication

  • Assists Halal authorities and policymakers in strengthening governance and assurance systems
  • Supports industry and SMEs in embedding sustainability within Halal operations
  • Enhances consumer trust through science-based and transparent Halal practices

Any future manuscripts related to Halal Education and Halal Digital Technology can be submitted under this research project.
