2026 Frontier Technology Conference Held in Beijing, Advancing Global Collaboration in Frontier Science and Sustainable Innovation

The 5th Frontier Technology Conference 2026 was successfully held in Beijing on September 12, 2026, as a thematic forum of the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS).

Under the theme “Emerging Technologies Shaping New Quality Productive Forces · Future Industries Driving Sustainable Development,” the conference brought together leading scientists, academicians, researchers, representatives of international organizations, enterprises, and technology service institutions to exchange perspectives on frontier science and technology, innovation, technology transfer, and sustainable development.

The conference was organized by the China Association for Science and Technology Promotion, The Belt and Road Science and Innovation Alliance, and Shougang Exhibition & Convention (Group) Co., Ltd., with Nan Yang Academy of Sciences Pte. Ltd. and Shike (Beijing) Cultural Development Co., Ltd. serving as co-organizers.

The conference provided an international platform for scientific dialogue and collaboration, with a focus on connecting frontier research with technological innovation, industrial development, and sustainable solutions.

Distinguished Scientific Leadership

The conference received a video address from Academician Ouyang Ziyuan, Chinese Chair of the 2026 Frontier Technology Conference, the first Chief Scientist of China’s Lunar Exploration Program, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of the International Academy of Astronautics, and Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences.

In his address, Academician Ouyang emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong commitment to scientific research and pursuing new frontiers in science and technology. His remarks highlighted the role of scientific innovation in addressing major technological challenges and supporting the development of new quality productive forces.

The conference also featured contributions from leading scientists and experts working across a broad range of disciplines. Discussions focused on emerging technologies, green innovation, future industries, and pathways for translating scientific advances into practical applications.

Advancing Green and Sustainable Innovation

A key highlight of the conference was the discussion of green technology and sustainable development.

Professor Teck-Peng Loh, Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, Fellow of the Singapore National Academy of Sciences, Professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and Editor-in-Chief of Sustainable Science and Innovation (SSI), delivered a keynote presentation entitled “Sustainable Science and Innovation: Advances in Therapeutics, Circular Plastics and Green Agriculture.”

The presentation explored recent advances and emerging opportunities in therapeutics, circular plastics, and green agriculture, highlighting the importance of scientific innovation in addressing environmental and societal challenges.

Professor Loh also shared perspectives on how advances in green science and technology can support industrial transformation and contribute to practical solutions for sustainable development.

In addition to keynote presentations and expert discussions, the conference featured research and innovation showcases, project cooperation, industry engagement, and international collaboration.
